It Never Gets Old

As Kim and I took the 4 hour drive from Anchorage to Copper Center, I couldn't help but think I'm still that 22 year old tourist that has her camera out and taking a large number of pictures of anything that I thought was beautiful back in the first summer I came to AK. The fact of the matter is that although I know that drive like the back of my hand, it's still just as beautiful as the first time I saw all of it. It truly makes you think that nothing else in the world matters and that, whether you like it or not, there is a God and he is great.
The only animal we saw was a big porcupine. He was indefinitely the mafia boss of the porcupine world. No picture was taken as he heard us coming and turned his back and walked out of sight.
It was so good to see and catch up with some of my old friends from years past. The sun set about 11 pm last night. The mosquitos aren't quite to their full sting power yet (thankfully), and the lodge looks like it's ready to have some life back in it. I'm excited and can't wait to get this party started.
